Monkeys and Birds

Monkeys and Birds

The birds were tweeting away,
As I sat on the wall by the canal.
The stones I tossed made ripples,
In the wandering waters below.
My world was a twilight of such ripples,
Twisting and turning with the tidal waves.
I had no control over either or any means of escape.
I felt like an abandoned Monkey,
Locked in an undersized cage.
With no air to breathe I was gagging,
I though I would sure shrivel and die.
But in my heart I knew you were coming,
Coming to rescue the teardrops in my eyes.
One day you sat down beside me,
And slowly you turned the key.
You yanked the rusty door open,
Then Suddenly I was Me!
